Post-Reason

Innuendo, talking points, rabbit trails, and so-called “critical thinking” combine to make “higher criticism.” Not that critical thinking is the problem. Critical thinking is very, very solid stuff. It only loses its value when it puts itself above what it analyzes. In theology, “higher criticism” means using higher standards to judge, higher thinking to evaluate, and higher authority to properly articulate what the Bible says. It represents vast imagination and intellectual bullshit.

Today, every armchair general has declared a victory motive for somebody: Zelensky, Putin, Netanyahu, an Imam or Terrorist. What we really need, say the higher critics, is for more Ukrainians, Russians, Jews, Arabs and Iranians to die.

Especially if we can kill each other to make Trump look bad, because Trump is evil and stupid. Correct me.

No, no. Really. Somebody has to win. Don’t be silly, it can’t be we, the people.
