The Turning Point

The latest trend is, “I am Charlie Kirk.” Social media is saturated with the statement. It should mean, “I am a gracious, intelligent, and a follower of Jesus Christ, reasoning carefully for pursuit of truth and right thinking.”

Yes. I support that statement if you mean it. In fact, an observable truth is that I never dreamed of seeing so many Charlie Kirk recordings, reflecting his arguments on virtually every topic. Few martyrs in history had such a direct impact on the whole of culture following death. Even those who left extensive writings mostly emerged only after a generation or more.

His worst reception may have been England, where his time with Cambridge faculty and students met a largely hostile audience disinterested in personal morality, ethics or reason, and savagely focused on Donald Trump and his foreign policies. Yet London offered one of the most moving celebrations of Charlie Kirk’s work.

While never intended to serve the mourning populace for Charlie, his death certainly worked to the conservative advantage in the Unite the Kingdom rally. It is impossible to separate the original goal of general conservatism and anti-Muslim invasion sentiment, but everyone involved welcomed and spoke for their sorrow and grievance for Charlie Kirk. The vast crowd defies logic if the atheists of Cambridge reflect England’s vicious atheistic reasoning. Search for and watch the Guardian video of the Unite the Kingdom Rally, preferably without words, and allow yourself to wonder how The Guardian (who took the aerial video!) estimated the crowd at 110,000. Even more incredible, NBC and CNN struggle against truth daily, looking rather stupid, variously calling it “thousands,” or “tens of thousands.” As in, thousands and tens of thousands, and tens of thousands and tens of thousands more. The main significance of such dishonesty is dishonesty itself.

I personally grieve Charlie’s death, the incredible hatred for his family and community. Yet I see the call to arms, proclaimed by God. It is refreshing to see Christians putting on the whole armor of God, ready to replace the fallen soldier on the front lines: The Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit, each serving a specific purpose in spiritual warfare.

From a hopeful perspective, God could be turning our whole nation, and sympathetic minds across the entire world. I expect that was Charlie Kirk’s goal in creating The Turning Point.
