In the latest post, I held to the rigid position that Democrats are solely responsible for our current shutdown. They alone, by their own power, prevented a democratic majority of votes from becoming law. That in no way excuses or exempts any behavior beyond denying that the United States Government is “shut down” by the Democrats, who chose instead to deny the outcome of the democratic process. So far, three different people have “disagreed,” meaning their personal comments to me had nothing to do with the truth that Democrats alone denied the US system of elected representatives from passing a law to continue the current budget.
Our nation is far worse off than we realize. These three people are intelligent, and have various political leanings of their own, yet none of them even noticed the complete theme of my bullheaded insistence on one single fact — almost invariably misreported by every news agency and service. They each chose, instead, to find and address completely unrelated information. One comment was private. The other two were on social media.
Before we can possibly agree on anything at all, we must learn to hear each other, and bite little pieces of truth. For instance, readers know that Donald Trump receives my highest approval ratings for the most effective, and probably the best person to serve in the White House in my lifetime, or at least runner-up with Ike. There are several elements of his clearly stated and objective goals, however, that disappoint and irritate me. Addressing just one, my bullheaded eyes roll at the Big, Beautiful Bill. Any Big, Beautiful Bill should be cut to ribbons of reason. Line item by line item is the only way to savage the greed, fraud, waste, obscenity and resulting plunder of huge omnibus bills.
No single American should ever like everything in the budget, but that is how we ordain it. “We spend trillions!” explains every Congress. “Take it or leave it.” Why? We, the People, would save trillions if got to shoot down stupid spending. But nope. First, the Supreme Court denied the line item veto that only President Bill Clinton was able to use — effectively, I would add. Increasingly, each and every Prez has wanted more and bigger bills.
It appears that Government won a long time ago, and Republicans and Democrats no longer exist. It all looks like a game. Do you agree? Of course not, our keepers will make sure we never agree, especially since we have no way to even stay on topic.
