The US Federal Govt spent over $20,000 for every person last year. We owe a total of $106,000 per individual in federal debt. The GDP last year was $86,000 per person, while American wages averaged $66,000 per taxpayer. (An interesting number, but not to slight anyone making less. The median income is more like $56,000, and plenty of us live on less. Half of us who work full-time earn between $43,000 and $75,000. It fascinates me how differently we spend it. 25% make more, 25% make less.
The idea of GDP, or Gross Domestic Product, is “everything we make.” Not only what we produce, but everything we do is included. Tearing down and not building back, and clean up are parts of GDP, as are intellectual property, electronic code, good (or popular) ideas, and electronic transmissions. They may never sell, but each has a value somehow associated with a transfer of funds.
A nation or region may never grow or decline much. Farmer communities mean first quarter investment, second quarter growth, third quarter harvest, fourth quarter collapse of the economy until seed time once again. The human condition from an evolutionary view.
Family of four stuff in the real world of average means you, your spouse and two dependent children earn somewhere under $100,000. The government is charging you according to that income. Poverty for four costs under $33,000. As far as I know, New Mexico and Alaska remain diy architecture friendly, God bless them, and others certainly out of memory’s range.
$424,000 in debt, and $80,000 in current government spending for all four of you. Half of one million. That is five years of your family’s gross income, if you’re doing alright. Five years of nothing but ending the old debt and keeping up with current spending. No groceries, no rent, no car payment, no tuition, books, or fees. You are fully committed to five years of your life for the progressively huge burden of irresponsible debt. That’s one way.
That may be the first and best reason to support Donald Trump on this tariff adjustment stuff. In April alone, we collected just shy of a billion dollars every day. One third of what the President anticipates. That is a little over three bucks apiece for all four of you, every day. That results in $4,600 off your family’s debt each year. Some things must rise above My Team vs Your Team.
